CHAMPAGNAC-LA-RIVIERE,
DEPT 87. |
|
Champagnac La Riviere is a small village in the centre of the Parc Naturel Limousin Perigord, which is roughly equivalent to one of the UKs National Parks. First records date from 1498, when it was called Sainte-Marie-de-Champagnac. The village lies in a wooded river valley (River Tardoire), and Parc Verger is high on the side of the valley, offering views across to the "Monts de Limousin" (which are low mountains, so do not expect snow covered peaks !). In the village is an excellent bar, with a pizza (and other meals) restaurant and epicerie attached. Other restaurants are available within a few kilometres, and information on these is available on request. Champagnac La Riviere is an excellent centre for house-hunting in the Limousin, Dordogne and Charente areas of France. This is a beautiful area, and with local airports such as those at Limoges, Poitiers, Bergerac, and Bordeaux offering direct flights to and from the UK, it is one of the most sought-after areas for those relocating or seeking a second home. Information on estate agents is readily available from Parc Verger.
Champagnac La Riviere and the surrounding lakes and rivers offer varied
venues for all angling enthusiasts. Tony Scott, well known from his many
years of involvement in angling in North Wales, can provide expert flyfishing
tuition, all equipment, and full information on local fishing. Visiting
anglers are welcome; see www.flyfishinginfrance.com
